Azure Market Thai red rice (also known as red cargo rice) is a long-grain rice which is similar to jasmine rice but it is not a type of jasmine rice. Thai red rice is also a non-glutinous rice and tends to be a more chewy rice in texture with a sweet and nutty flavor.

Directions

Bring 2 ½ cup water, and 3 tsp butter (optional) in a pot to a boil and then combine 1 cup rice. Cover with a tight-fitting lid, reduce heat to low-simmer for 30-40 min. Remove from heat (with lid on!) and steam for 5 minutes. Fluff with fork. To have a less chewy texture of red rice soak the rice in water for at least 30 minutes before cooking. Tip: To prepare in rice cooker, use same water-rice ratio.
